A child development center (CDC) will soon rise in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, with Mayor Alfredo Benitez authorized by the Sangguniang Panlungsod to sign the memorandum of agreement with Punong Barangay Lady Gles Pallen and the Ronald McDonald House of Charities (RMHC) of the Philippines.

The Sangguniang Barangay, in Resolution 132-2024, said the barangay has a 150 square-meter donated property at Rosario Heights Subdivision, for the project.

Taculing is one of the thickly populated barangays of Bacolod, and the Bahay Bulilit project will be beneficial to the kids, it added.

Pallen told her colleagues during the SP session July 17 that the CDC, although located in her barangay, is also open to all children of Bacolod.

As per the MOA, the RMHC, a non-stock, nonprofit organization that supports Filipino children’s need for education and shelter, shall undertake to complete the CDC on before Dec. 31 this year.

Upon completion, the RMHC shall turnover the CDC to the city government and the barangay that shall be responsible for the continuous and regular administration, maintenance, and general operations of the CDC, including the hiring of a social development worker.

“The CDC shall be used exclusively for educational, medical, and social welfare projects and initiatives that are in line with the objectives of RMHC,” the MOA stressed. “The center shall not be used as a residential space or living quarters, general storage of objects and materials not directly related to the allowed uses of CDC, or as venue for activities related to elections, campaigns, or other politically-motivated events, among others.” | CGC
