Businessman and former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson said that he will give P1 million cash to the parents and siblings of Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo.
In a press briefing in Bacolod City yesterday, Singson said that the P5 million he offered to Yulo, if he reunites with family, is still there.
He wants Yulo to reconcile with his mother, Angelica, he added.
Yulo has been at odds with his family even before winning a pair of gold medals in the Paris Olympics in August.
Singson said that he is willing to help Yulo mend fences with his family that will make him an ultimate idol on and off the playing court.
“Filipinos are very family oriented. I want him to be the role model of a family,” he said, adding that whatever Yulo’s mother did to him, he should forgive her.
“Honor thy father and thy mother, that’s very important,” the former governor said.
Singson is eyeing one of the 12 senatorial seats in the May 2025 midterm elections as an independent candidate.
He was accompanied by his daughter, Ako Ilocano partylist group Rep. Richelle Singson, in attending the 45th MassKara Festival. | GB
