Cervical cancer shots for Kabankalan workers

Some 50 female employees of the Kabankalan City government received free vaccination for cervical cancer in line with the Women’s Month celebration this March.

The program is supported by city officials led by Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr. and Vice Mayor Raul Rivera for the reproductive health of every female employee aged 18 to 49.

It is being implemented in coordination with the City Health Office.

In the Philippines, data showed that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women. An estimated 7,277 new cases of, and 3,807 deaths due to, cervical cancer are expected to occur every year.

Generally, all women who have had sexual intercourse are at risk of cervix cancer. – NND
