Commuters traveling within Negros Occidental are not covered by the “no vaccination card, no ride” policy being enforced by the Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) that operates Ceres Liner passenger buses in the Visayas and Mindanao.
VTI media relations officer Jade Seballos clarified Jan. 18 that the policy is only for inbound travelers to Negros Occidental.
Based on the executive order issued by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, inbound travelers are also required to secure a negative RT-PCR test result 72 hours prior to travel, before the approval of their S-PaSS.
Seballos said passengers originating from Negros Oriental and other areas in the country placed under Alert Level 3 are covered by the “no vax, no ride” policy of the Department of Transportation.
The DOTr said the policy is in effect while Alert Level 3 is being implemented to stem the surging cases of COVID-19, particularly with the spread of the highly infectious Omicron variant.
The “no vax, no ride” policy is also being enforced by airline companies at the Bacolod–Silay Airport in Negros Occidental since Jan. 17.
All domestic airlines, operating on scheduled and non-scheduled services, to and from the National Capital Region, while on Alert Level 3, or higher, will cater only to fully vaccinated passengers, unless otherwise exempted, the Civil Aeronautics Board said in an advisory. | GB
