The Central Negros Electric Cooperative said it tested its 20MVA Reclamation Substation in Bacolod City, and fixed oil leakage affected by a “system disturbance” monitored at 11:24 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
It added that the five substation feeders that serviced several areas, including the Bredco Reclamation, Lopue’s San Sebastian, Araneta Street, and SM City Bacolod north and south wings were backed online between 5:51 p.m. and 6:26 p.m.
The NGCP system disturbance affected the entire Panay sub-grid, and investigation was ongoing, as of press time, to determine its root cause.
But it said that, as of 2:24 p.m., it successfully restored power transmission services to all affected customers in Panay Island, including Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo.
It stressed that “rotating power interruptions may be experienced as supply is currently being sourced from renewable plants” while it is “awaiting the synchronization of affected power plants back to the grid”.
The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative also said that at around 11:07 to 12:05 noon today, “we have experienced unscheduled power interruption affecting the whole coverage area of Noneco…due to voltage dip and sag on the 69KV side”./CGC
