Budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) is adding more flights to Bacolod City from hubs in Manila, Cebu and Davao, starting October this year.

Erwin Colcol, Cebu Pacific corporate communications manager, announced this during a round table discussion with the Bacolod media on Friday, Aug. 30.

From 42 weekly flights for Bacolod- Manila-Bacolod in September, it will increase to 47 in October and November, while the Bacolod-Cebu- Bacolod weekly flights will increase also from 14 to 28 on the same period.

The Bacolod-Davao-Bacolod flights will also be increased from three to five.

As highly-urbanized Bacolod City gears up for the world-renowned MassKara festivities in October, Cebu Pacific is most likely to use bigger aircraft to accommodate more passengers, Colcol said.

Starting Oct. 27, Cebu Pacific will operate flights from Iloilo to Hongkong four times a week.

Iloilo to Singapore flights will commence on Nov. 25, operating three times a week.

Colcol said that the launch of international flights at the Bacolod-Silay Airport is “something that we hope to have in the future” as Cebu Pacific is increasing its networks.

“But right now, the focus is the restoration of international flights in Iloilo,” he added.

Colcol said that they are hoping to bring back the Bacolod-Clark flight, which was affected by the supply chain issue in the previous years.

Cebu Pacific announced earlier that it had signed a binding memorandum of understanding with Airbus to purchase up to 152 aircrafts.

The Gokongwei-led airline’s order is for up to 102 A321neo and 50 A320neo aircrafts. | GB
