The provincial government of Negros Occidental signed a memorandum of agreement with the University of St. La Salle College of Law March 9 for the Clinical Legal Education Program of law student practitioners (LSPs).
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and USLS College of Law dean, Atty. Rhodora Lo, signed the MOA at the Governor’s Office with Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II and Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. as witnesses.
Also in attendance were Atty. Keith Balbin of USLS, Provincial Environment Management Office head Julie Ann Bedrio, and Atty. Nelie France Sanchez of the PLO.

Per the MOA, the provincial government has agreed to support USLS law student practitioners by involving them in legal work, particularly in serving marginalized sectors and promoting social justice and the public interest, in its commitment to enhance experiential learning and prepare the country’s future lawyers.
The program consists of four units, equivalent to 240 hours. As part of the Legal Education curriculum, LSPs are required to complete it before graduation.
Lacson thanked the USLS for its trust and confidence in sending its aspiring lawyers to Capitol, and expressed hope that their brief stay will help shape them into competent and principled members of the legal profession.
The student practitioners, all third-year law students, are Roxanne Toleco, Mary Rica Lacson, and Jeremiah Diaz, and second-year law student Joshua Facon, the Capitol said. ||
