The Negros Occidental provincial government and the State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) formalized their partnership to enhance job matching and career guidance through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on May 16.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and SUNN president Dr. Renante Egcas signed the MOA at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
As stated in the MOA, the provincial government, through the Provincial Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will offer various services designed to support SUNN students, including job matching and placement, labor market information, job fairs, Special Program for Employment of Students, livelihood and self-employment opportunities, youth empowerment initiatives, and scholarship programs.
For its part, the SUNN will contribute various resources and services to assist the Provincial PESO in achieving its objectives.
These include internships and on-the-job training programs, venues for PESO activities, access to expert faculty, community engagement and outreach, joint entrepreneurship programs, networking and partnership opportunities, and collaboration on market research.
Lacson said that the Capitol’s joint initiative with SUNN is more than just a partnership but a shared commitment to development, empowerment, and inclusive progress.
“Through the programs and services of PESO, we aim to bridge the gap between education and employment, and between skills and opportunities,” he added.
“With SUNN as our partner, we are confident that we can create stronger linkages that connect our youth and communities to jobs, training, entrepreneurship, and hope,” Lacson further said. ||
