More than P400,000 worth of vehicle batteries and oil lubricants were reported missing, which believed to have been stolen, from the motor pool compound of the Negros Occidental provincial government in Bacolod City.

General Services Office head Arnel Argusar said yesterday that they discovered the robbery incident when they conducted an inventory of the warehouse along Gatuslao Street.

A total of 21 vehicle batteries and oil lubricants were taken by the robbers, he added.

A hole was discovered on the concrete wall separating the compound from the dwellings of informal settlers in Barangay 6.

“We believe the suspects made the hole to enter the perimeter of the compound,” Argusar said, adding that the robbery may have taken place during the long holidays between the last week of October and first week of November.

He added that they are looking into the possibility of an inside job.

Argusar said five batteries have been recovered during police operation in Barangay Pahanocoy.

However, one of the contacts who facilitated the buying of the stolen batteries died in an accident when his tricycle was hit by another vehicle, he added.

Argusar said the police investigators already have persons of interest behind the incident. | GB
