The provincial government of Negros Occidental entered into a memorandum of agreement with several of its partners for the Negrense CITE-AI Tech Scholarship Program in a ceremonial event held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City yesterday.
The scholarship program is a collaborative initiative between the province and its several partners including the CITE Technical Institute Inc., Agro-Industrial Technology and Enterprise Center (AI TECH), Foundation for People Development, Inc., AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation, and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
It aims to produce highly skilled production technologists and provide employment opportunities for Negrense youth in emerging industries.
The 31 beneficiaries of the scholarship program were also present for the send-off ceremony for the start of classes on Aug. 18.
The scholars are graduates of the Alternative Learning System and senior high school as well as college undergraduates, who are from the municipalities of Calatrava, Toboso, La Castellana, Cauayan, and Pontevedra, and the cities of Bago and La Carlota.
Upon completing their training at the CITE Technical School in Cebu City, the scholars will receive certification under the dual training system and will undergo a ten-month deployment in various partner companies in Cebu.
The program seeks to empower marginalized youth, equip them with technical skills tailored to the needs of Visayas industries, and prepare them for long-term employment.
In his speech, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson emphasized that the scholarship program reflects the shared commitment of the provincial government and its partners to promote education and employment as drivers of human development and sustainable progress. ||
