The municipality of Bindoy and the Nalundan United Farmers Association Inc. won the top prize of P500,000 in the 2024 Timbayayong Awards, with the awarding ceremony held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center Feb. 4.
The Timbayayong Awards recognizes outstanding local government units and NGO/PO partnership.
Bais City and the Nalandan Cacao and Coffee Growers Association placed second and bagged P300,000 in cash prize; while the City of Bayawan and the Tabuan Ilawod Kalumboyan Farmers Irrigation Association Inc. won P200,000 for a third place spot.
A consolation prize of P100,000 each was received by the municipality of Valencia and the Valencia Agricultural Multipurpose Cooperative, the municipality of Tayasan and the Matuog Fisherman Association, the municipality of Pamplona and the Sta. Agueda Rural Waterworks and Sanitation Association, and the City of Guihulngan and Lip-o Farmers Association.
Sixteen entries were scrutinized by the distinguished adjudicators, led by Juan Agustine Jalandoni of NOCCI, Dr. Romario Ybanez of Foundation University, and professor Phoebe Tan of Silliman University.
Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, in his message, said that the essence of Timbayayong transcends policies; it shapes policies that bring proactive progress, and not just creates progress.
He also stressed the importance of better governance and trust in the delivery of service to communities for women empowerment, youth development, and grassroots leverage. ||
