Police Regional Office 6 director, Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, pinned the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and gave financial support Feb. 14 to P/Lt. Charles Richard Casalan of the Binalbagan Police Station, who was injured in a roadside bombing Feb. 13 in Sitio Candida 2, Brgy. Bi-ao in the town.

Casalan was leading a seven-man team of the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station to respond to a call for police assistance, when the communist terrorist group detonated an anti-personnel mine in the sitio.

A firefight ensued, and Casalan sustained injuries together with Police Corporal Tranquillero, a press release from PRO 6 said.

The PRO6 leadership strongly denounced the deceitful and cowardly act of the local CTG.

“They have the intention to kill our personnel who are lawfully performing their mandated duties. And they disturb the tranquility of the place and the whole community of Barangay Bi-oa by unleashing their evil and unlawful intentions,” Dongbo said.

“We will conduct thorough investigation on this incident, and find evidence to support an airtight case that we will be filing and will run after them,” he added. “This incident will not stop us from protecting the people of Binalbagan and of the entire Negros Occidental.” — NND
