The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is set to bolster its security operations in anticipation of the increased movement of people and the number of various events taking place during the Summer Vacation (SUMVAC) 2025, starting April 1.
The influx of people returning to their hometowns in the Negros Island Region is expected, particularly during the observance of the Holy Week from April 13 to 20.
Significant national and local events such as Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, Flores de Mayo, and the National and Local Elections (NLE) are also expected to contribute to heightened public activity, the BCPO Public Information Office said.
Fiestas and local festivities may lead to congestion in roads, transportation hubs, seaports, airports, and terminals while an influx of local and foreign tourists is anticipated in beach resorts, hotels, mountain retreats, and other tourist destinations, it added.
BCPO said it will reinforce proactive policing efforts to prevent lawless elements from taking advantage of the situation.
The possibility of criminal groups or individuals launching attacks against government officials, law enforcement forces, and vital installations cannot be discounted, it added.
With the NLE campaign period, election day, and proclamation of winners falling within SUMVAC, the BCPO is intensifying its police operations to ensure peace, law, and order, with security personnel to be strategically deployed in coordination with the local government units and other law enforcement agencies to prevent untoward incidents. ||
