The Bacolod City Police Office reported yesterday that it has confiscated 1.25 kilos of suspected shabu, with a market value of P8 million, from July 1 to 31 this year, as part of its intensified operations against the proliferation of illegal drugs.

P/Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, BCPO spokesman, said the 45 police operations they had initiated also resulted in the arrest of 37 drug personalities, and 15 drug users.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office also reported to have neutralized the activities of 414 suspects engaged in drug peddling activities, following their arrests in the first semester of 2022. It also resulted in the confiscation of P64 million worth of illegal drugs, reports from NOCPPO show.

The apprehension of the 414 drug suspects was a combined effort of the NOCPPO, in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6, Philippine Coast Guard, and other government security agencies.

Seized by NOCPPO were more than nine kilos of suspected shabu, with a market value of P64 million, and four kilos of suspected dried marijuana leaves, with a market value also of P549,000.

Both the NOCPPO and BCPO are vying for national awards as best provincial and city police offices, respectively, in line with the Police Service anniversary next week./GB
