The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has been asked to intensify visibility and crime deterrence efforts by assigning personnel in all public and private schools, for the safety of students and teachers.

This as classes for academic year 2024-2025 will start on Monday, July 29, except in areas affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon and super typhoon Carina early this week.

“There is a need for the BCPO to increase its police visibility and institute appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of our children, and to help bring back the people’s confidence in our law enforcement agencies,” Councilor Claudio Jesus “Kalaw” Puentevella said in a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod July 24.

The increase in police visibility around private and public schools will protect students and suppress crimes within the vicinity of schools, Puentevella added. | CGC
