The City of Bayawan in Negros Oriental became a vibrant hub of celebration as spectators gathered for the much-awaited 2024 Christmas opening salvo Nov. 18, with a stunning live performance by the iconic Jose Mari Chan.
The event marked the official start of the holiday revelries in the city, and showcased a combination of cultural festivities and community spirit.
Chan, whose music has become synonymous with the Filipinos’ Christmas tradition, entertained the crowd. His songs evoked nostalgia and joy among the attendees, strengthening the cultural ties that bind communities this festive season.
Such performance was not only entertaining but served to boost local tourism and economic activity by attracting visitors from neighboring areas, who joined in the community celebration, the Capitol said.
Also in attendance were Bayawan Mayor John Raymond Jr. and Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, who stressed the importance of such celebration and highlighted the role of the local government in promoting community engagement through festivals. ||
