Barangay leader in Murcia stabbed

A barangay leader survived a violent attack after he was stabbed inside his home in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Canlandog in Murcia, Negros Occidental Aug. 7.

“Celso”, 64, is now in stable condition at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Bacolod, the police said, adding that they arrested alias “Ronald”, 35, unemployed, and a resident of the purok, following a hot-pursuit operation.

P/Capt. Honey Labaro, acting chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station, said the suspect arrived at the victim’s residence and shouted threats.

He then kicked open the main door, proceeded to break down the bedroom door, and shoved a weapon through the gap after seeing the victim standing behind the damaged door.

The victim was hit in the abdomen.

The suspect fled but was eventually captured after a hot-pursuit operation, the police said. | TMD
