Bago student part of PH team in World Mathematics tourney

Paul Michael Degillo, a Grade 6 student of the Special Science Program of Bago City Elementary School (BCES), is part of the Philippine team that will compete in the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) tournament in Malaysia from July 12 to 16.

Degillo is the first student from BCES to join the team that will represent the country in the international competition.

His father, pastor Renz Degillo, said that Paul qualified for the competition through his outstanding performance in several activities led by the Asian MathSci League Inc.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the Bago City government in Paul’s endeavors in the mathematical field, which serves as a testament to the quality education being offered by BCES to its students.

Paul said in a city press release that he is doing his best to prepare for the upcoming competition, adding he is happy to represent Bago City in the international stage.

Paul, accompanied by members of his family, BCES Special Science class adviser Joy Decatoria, and subject adviser Benjie Villafranca, paid a courtesy call on Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres at the City Hall July 4. ||
