The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bago, led by Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, commended April 25, the Our Lady of Pillar Academy (OLPA)-Bago students for winning the different competitions during the Negros Inter-Diocesan Association of Parochial Schools (NIDACS) Meet 2024, held at the Binalbagan Catholic College in Binalbagan town April 17-19.
The school, based in the city’s Barangay Ma-ao, won as champion in chorale; vocal solo OPM, represented by Thea Nicole Rigby; basketball boys; volleyball boys; and chess boys, represented by Peter John Tenorio, all under the secondary schools’ category.
The SP, in a resolution, recognized the hard work and dedication of the school, especially the students, to achieve their goals, a city press release said.
Torres said that it is very flattering that the school in Ma-ao is already reaping the gains of their hardships, not only in the field of academics but also in terms of extracurricular activities.
Also present at the recognition rites were councilors Ma. Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Carlos Mondia, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, and Joseph Colmenares, former councilor Jorge Araneta, and Abuanan punong barangay Michael Bermudez.
For OLPA, the students were joined by their teachers, principal Gladys Cecelia Miape, and Diocesan Association of Parochial Schools superintendent Candelaria Balboa. ||
