Bago fetes outstanding Bagonhons, businesses

The Bago City government recognized its outstanding Bagonhons in various fields of endeavor, as well as the businesses that help in the growth of the city, during the 17th Gawad Bagonhon awarding ceremony at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center Feb. 18.

Bagonhon awardees include Donnabelle Fernandez, Jhio Jan Navarro, Jon Marc Torres, Jannah Kyra Javelona, and Herach Lee Barino Gelveleo, topnotchers in licensure examinations; Atty. Jose Alvin Gonzaga for International Services; Edna Callejas Mijares, Chemistry and Agriculture;

Engineer Jeffrey Mijares, Chemical Engineering and Waste Management; Professor Ma. Mercedes Planta, Academe; and Joepher Montaño and the world champion Bago City Junior League Softball Girls, Sports.

Business awardees in the corporation category include Distileria Bago Inc., M & J Fabrication and Installation Inc., Mercury Drug Corp., Linde Philippines (South) Inc., Ginebra San Miguel Inc., First Balfour Inc., Bdo Unibank Inc., Makran Trading & Development Corporation, Personal Collection Direct Selling Inc., and Forest Lake Development Inc.

For business single proprietorship category, those recognized were Mel Grace Sedonio of Sedonio Grocer Y Store, Gresilda Mirhan – Golden Hope Marketing, Juanito Ang – Sunfresh Enterprises, Albert Lee Anida – Jet-Jet Meat Shop, Ricardo Guevarra – Four Sg Enterprises, Nelcis Estopa – Estopa Meat Shop, Aiza Jane Catalbas – Catalbas Meat Shop, Ma. Lourdes Tayongtong – Charpete General Merchandise, Josephine Locsin – Tumandok Crafts Industries, and Ma. Teresa Fernandez – Maria Luisa Agri Venture.

In the real property corporation category, the awardees were Distileria Bago Inc., Central Negros Power Reliability Inc., Philbev Realty Corporation, Yusay Realty Development Corp., Donato Cruz. Trading Corp., Energy Development Corp., Mra & Son, Asian Alcohol Corp., Bacphil Planters Fertilizers Corp., and Krush Rock Corp., the city said.

Real property single proprietorship honorees were Wilford Sy, Ma. Teresa Bongco, Eileen Montinola, Dr. Nelly Antigua, Atty. Ramon Gonzaga Jr., Michelle Jalandoni, Corazon Sevilleno, Juanito King, Editha Ejastro, and Roland Avila.

The awarding ceremony was part of the 58th Charter anniversary celebration of Bago, themed “58 Years of Cityhood: Greener Horizons, Empowered Communities and Service Excellence”, that started Jan. 25 and will end on Feb. 29. 

Mayor Nicholas Yulo earlier said that this year’s theme is centered on the message that “we cannot proceed to progress without the citizenry who are empowered, aware, and contributing to the development.” | CGC
