Bacolod City and six other areas in the country will remain under General Community Quarantine status until Nov. 30, as announced Tuesday (Oct. 27) by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Prior to the announcement, Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier reiterated his appeal to de-escalate the quarantine status of Bacolod from GCQ to Modified General Community Quarantine. The appeal, apparently, was not granted.
Leonardia said that he personally called Monday night DILG regional director Jovie Ingeniero, regional RIATF chairperson, appealing to de-escalate the quarantine status of Bacolod citing the major inroads the city made in the past weeks.
The mayor pointed out that no less than NIATF chief implementer Maj. Gen. Mel Feliciano now considers the COVID-19 situation stable in Bacolod.
Leonardia said he was assured by Ingeniero that he will favorably endorse the de-escalation equest for Bacolod.
City Administrator Em Ang reported two positive cases as of Oct. 27, noting that it was the lowest daily record the city had since July 16.
On the other hand, the Department of Public Works and Highways is slated to turn over the newly-constructed 32-room quarantine and isolation facility, worth P25 million, in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City to City Officials on Oct. 30.
The facility has a comfort room in each of the 32 rooms, with hot and cold shower, an airconditioning system, two female and two male quarters for medical service personnel, two generator sets, two utility rooms and two nurses stations.
The Provincial Incident Management Team also recommended to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to extend the MGCQ status of Negros Occidental, according to Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz. GPB
