The Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) will begin inspecting the city’s isolation facilities to ensure that they are well-maintained and functioning to accommodate asymptomatic patients, who are undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine protocol.

EOC-TF executive director Em Ang said the move is part of their preparation should new COVID cases will be recorded in the city, especially now that a new surge has been observed on a global scale.

“The EOC will work closely with the City Engineer’s Office so that all necessary repairs will be made ahead,” she added in an EOC-TF press release Jan. 4.

Symptomatic patients will be closely monitored at the Midway Referral Facility of the city government in Barangay Alijis, the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center-Task Force said Jan. 4.

“We will make sure that the bathrooms are functioning well, that there is enough water supply, and room ventilation secured as well. We will also tap the General Services Office to help the EOC make sure that the facilities are cleaned,” Ang added.

The city’s isolation facilities have accommodated fewer patients for three consecutive months beginning October, considering that local COVID cases had been on a steady decline due to the ongoing vaccination drive and the Bayanihan Bakunahan initiated by the Department of Health.

EOC-TF data showed only one new infection, as of Jan. 3, from the 1,653 active cases in 56 barangays in September, 954 in October, 261 by November, and 112 in December.

Only 24 barangays have active COVID cases, the EOC-TF data added.

Meanwhile, symptomatic patients will be closely monitored at the Midway Referral Facility, the city’s temporary treatment facility, in Barangay Alijis until they fully recover.

EOC deputy medical, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, said they will conduct continuous sanitation and fogging at the isolation facilities despite not having occupants.

Pornan is also the head of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Ang said there will be logistical support to make sure that groceries and hygiene kits are provided to close contacts of COVID patients, whose homes are sealed-off.

The Department of Social Services and Development will also ensure that free meals and snacks are provided to quarantined patients.| NND
