Sports organizations and coaches gathered for a key stakeholders’ meeting to finalize preparations for the city’s delegation in the upcoming Batang Pinoy 2026, which Bacolod is set to host in December.

Mayor Greg Gasataya assured attendees of the city’s full financial and logistical support. He emphasized that the initiative aims to provide valuable opportunities for young Bacolodnon athletes to compete at higher levels.

The city government has also engaged with local accommodation providers as part of broader efforts to ensure a successful, citywide hosting.

Atty. Jose Marty Go, secretary to the mayor, said that following the initial consultation, a series of small group meetings will be conducted for each sports discipline.

He explained that these sessions will cover the specific details on how the tryouts will be run and the exact selection process for the athletes, who will represent Bacolod in the Batang Pinoy.

The national youth games will gather athletes aged 8 to 15 across 30 sports disciplines, with at least 20,000 delegates expected to converge in Bacolod from Dec. 12 to 18. | TMD
