Bacolod City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea is set to appear before the Sangguniang Panlungsod members on Wednesday, Jan. 10, for their concurrence of her appointment as co-terminus department head II.

Mayor Alfredo Benitez appointed Gelvolea to the post Jan. 2, and asked the SP for concurrence the following day in time for the sanggunian’s first session for this year, but action was deferred as the SP wanted her to be present and answer queries, as per protocol.

Gelvolea, who will be paid P116,000 per month, replaced Atty. Pacifico Maghari III, who resigned effective Nov. 1 after heading the City Administrator’s Office since the start of the Benitez administration.

She served as a pro bono consultant for special projects and economics affairs of Benitez in the latter part of 2022, and was the outgoing head of the Capitol’s Economic Enterprise Development Department when the mayor named her as incoming city administrator.

Benitez earlier said that Gelvolea worked with him in the Incident Management Team of the Negros Occidental provincial government at the height of the coronavirus disease pandemic. “There were a lot of working relationships that were established during that time, and I see her capable of the job.” | CGC
