The Sangguniang Panlungsod has expressed its deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of former Bacolod vice mayor, Atty. Jose “Roger” Las Piñas, who passed away Sept. 29.

“Las Piñas belonged to a generation of Bacolod public servants, who helped shape the city’s institutions, policies, and communities,” the SP said in approving the resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito Sept. 30.

Distrito said that Las Piñas also served the City of Bacolod as councilor and city administrator, contributing both to the legislative and executive affairs of the city government.

“His service in different capacities stands as a testament to his commitment to public service,” the SP said, adding that Las Piñas also served Barangay Villamonte, where he was among those who worked for the development of the community and the advancement of educational opportunities for residents.

It is fitting and proper for the SP, an institution he himself once served, to honor his memory and acknowledge with gratitude his contributions to Bacolod and the Bacolodnons, the resolution stressed.
