The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod yesterday approved a resolution congratulating the Iglesia ni Cristo on its 109th founding anniversary tomorrow, July 27.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the SP Committee on History, Culture and Arts, said that the INC “has become an important partner in molding the spiritual lives of its members, and in the evangelization of millions more in the Philippines and abroad.
“Under the accomplished leadership of its executive minister, Ka Eduardo Manalo, and the leaders of the local district in Bacolod City, the Iglesia ni Cristo has conducted various outreach programs, medical missions, and feeding programs that have benefited thousands of Bacolodnons, through the Lingap sa Mamamayan (Aid to Humanity) program of the church,” the SP said.
The INC was organized and founded by Ka Felix Manalo on July 27, 1914.
On June 3, 2009, Republic Act No. 9645 was passed declaring every 27th day of July as a special national working holiday, in recognition of the significant role and invaluable contribution of the Iglesia ni Cristo in nation-building, the resolution added./CGC
