The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod commended May 21 the University of St. La Salle College of Law Nuremberg Moot Court Team, composed of Jamie Lene Jenkins, Nina Francesca Rivas, and Catherine Trespuentes, for qualifying for the Oral Rounds of this prestigious competition, to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, on July 23-26.

“This achievement is particularly significant as the USLS is the only Philippine team to qualify from among the top 40 teams worldwide, and one of only 17 teams from the entire continent of Asia,” the resolution of commendation, authored by Councilor Danna Marie Barzo, said.

“This also marks the first-ever participation of the USLS in this esteemed international competition, making their qualification an even more remarkable feat,” the resolution stressed.

Such commendable feat has brought honor not only to the university but also to the City of Bacolod, the SP said. “We commend Jenkins, Rivas, and Trespuentes for their hard work, dedication, and exemplary representation of the USLS and the Philippines on the global stage, and wish them the best of luck.”

USLS College of Law dean Ralph Sarmiento said in an earlier post that the opportunity to compete in Germany came after the team’s performance in the written phase of the competition.

The all-female team that he coached devoted time and effort to prepare for the challenging and enriching experience, Sarmiento had said.
