Bacolod City is the pilot area in Western Visayas for the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), starting at 2 p.m. June 28, with the public plaza as the ceremonial site.
Mock scenarios will also be conducted at La Consolacion College-Bacolod, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod, the Rizal Elementary School, and in Purok Violeta, Barangay Taculing, the city Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said.
Expect possible road closures and traffic re-routing this afternoon, the DRRMO added.
The NSED is just one aspect of earthquake preparedness, other measures that need to be implemented and strengthened include engineering solutions and compliance to the Building Code.
“Continue to participate in preparedness activities. Cooperation from various sectors is crucial in programs, projects, activities, and policies related to earthquake and other hazard preparedness,” the DRRMO urged the public. “Join the NSED on June 28 at 2 p.m. Let’s all simultaneously duck, cover, and hold.” ||
