Bacolod okays P13-M in cash aid to MassKara fest dancers

The Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved Sept. 16 the request for financial assistance totaling P13 million for performers in the school and barangay categories of the MassKara Festival streetdance, and electric MassKara competitions.

Of the cash assistance, P5.5 million will be for the seven districts and four clusters of the DepEd Division of Bacolod City; P750,000 each to the eight barangays in the streetdance contest; and P300,000 to five barangays joining the electric MassKara showdown.

The SP also said that the city could increase the amount of assistance, depending on the availability of funds.

The electric MassKara competition on Oct. 16 at Megaworld’s The Upper East will be participated in by barangays 12, 14, 17, 19, and 21.

Competing in the street and arena dance on Oct. 17 are Montevista Elementary School, Sum-ag ES, Vista Alegre-Granada Relocation ES, Vista Alegre ES, Mandalagan ES, Handumanan ES 1, and Education Training Center School II.

In the barangay category on Oct. 18, the performers are 6, 10, 13, Alangilan, Bata, Handumanan, Mandalagan, and Taculing.

Per the proposed memorandum of agreement on the grant of financial assistance, the DepEd Bacolod and concerned barangays shall submit liquidation and fund utilization reports, including all necessary documents in support of the disbursement and/or expenditures not later than 30 days after receipt of funds from the city. | CGC
