Bacolod, Negros Occ. schools log high nursing exam passing rates

At least five schools in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental recorded passing rates higher than the national average in the Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE), based on results released by the Professional Regulation Commission Dec. 2.

The PRC said the University of St. La Salle logged a 97.01 passing rate after 260 graduates passed the NLE administered by the Board of Nursing in 19 testing centers all over the Philippines last month.

Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod has 154 passers, both first time and repeat takers, for a 92.22 percent passing rate; Riverside College, 181 passers, 89.16 percent pass rate; University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 34 passers, 87.18 percent; and the Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology based in Sagay City, 97 passers, 86.61 percent.

Merielyn Malihan Lapenied, a graduate of Nonescost and niece of Richard Malihan of the Capitol Public Information Office, is among the school’s passers in the November 2023 Nurses Licensure Examination.

The PRC said 25,761 out of 32,203 examinees from 502 schools passed the NLE, for a national pass rate of 80 percent.

Aristotle Calayan Castronuevo of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and Cris Vinz Corpuz Tomboc, of West Visayas State University-La Paz, shared the Top 1 spot with a rating of 91 percent.

Fifty-three other graduates landed in the second to tenth spots.

Registration for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card and Certificate of Registration will be done online, from Jan. 15-19, Jan. 22-26, Jan. 29-31, Feb. 1-2, Feb. 5-9, Feb. 12-16, Feb. 19-23, Feb. 26-29, March 1, March 4-8, and March 11 and 12 next year, the PRC said, adding that the date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony will be announced later. | CGC
