The Bacolod City government will lease three units at the Negros First Cybercentre, owned by the provincial government of Negros Occidental, for seven months, at P202,000 per month.
The units will be used as temporary offices of the City General Services Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government Bacolod, and Commission on Audit-Bacolod, as per the proposed lease contract.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, told his colleagues during their session June 11, that offices at the old City Hall will be transferred to the Cybercentre at corner Lacson and Hernaez streets in Barangay 39, Bacolod while the former is being renovated.
The SP has authorized Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez to sign the lease contract with the Capitol, after City Budget Officer Maria Imelda Williams certified that the City Mayor’s Office has available funds of P2.2 million under its rent expense account for 2024.
“Considering the emerging needs of the City to provide quality offices to its employees due to ongoing rehabilitations of multiple city department offices, the temporary lease on the Negros First Cybercentre will enhance the delivery of public services in the City of Bacolod and the province as a whole,” the City Legal Office said.
Aside from the monthly rental rate of P202,000 for all three units, the city will also pay P58,290 a month as common utilities and service area fees, the lease contract showed./CGC
