The city government has engaged the services of 167 parttime faculty members of the Bacolod City College for five months, or until Dec. 23 this year, with P9 million certified available to pay their hourly salary rate of P200.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod has authorized Mayor Alfredo Benitez to sign the contracts of service (COS) of these faculty members, most of them renewals and with their qualifications and requirements reviewed by the BCC Board of Trustees.
The City Legal Office, in its legal opinion, said “it is understood that the Board of Trustees Resolution No. 07-16-04…recommends the hiring of the 167 part-time faculty members (that) conforms to the requirements of City Ordinance No. 851, series of 2018, or the revised charter of the Bacolod City College.”
City Budget Officer Maria Imelda Williams, in her Sept. 17 certification, said there is an available appropriation of P9,026,000 under the MOOE-Other Professional Services Account of the BCC for this year, in line with the COS of these college instructors. | CGC
