The Bacolod city government will grant financial assistance of more than P8 million to various barangays competing in the electric MassKara float, and in the arena and street dance competitions on Oct. 26 and 27, respectively.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod authorized Mayor Alfredo Benitez this afternoon, Sept. 23, to sign the memoranda of agreement with the punong barangays of Pahanocoy, 5, 8, 10, 11, 17, 19, 29, 36, and 39, for the grant of P300,000 each as subsidy for their participation in the electric MassKara float competition.
Barangays 6, 12, 18, 21, 35, Bata, and Granada, meanwhile, will each receive P730,700 as financial grant for their participation in the arena and street dance competition on Oct. 27.
The two competitions are highlight activities in the 45th staging of Bacolod’s main crowd-drawing festival that is slated from Oct. 11 to 27.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation (BYF) said the sashing ceremony for the 15 Miss Bacolod MassKara 2024 candidates will be on Sept. 29 at SM City Bacolod.
All 15 candidates will be officially presented and sashed, marking the beginning of their journey towards the pageant’s coronation night, the BYF said in a press release, adding that the “Darling of the Press” will be selected during the event.
The grand coronation will be on Oct. 19.
With strong contenders for this year’s title, the Miss Bacolod MassKara pageant stands as one of the most anticipated highlights of the world-famous festival, the BYF said. “The pageant aims to secure a prominent national crown, and celebrates not only the beauty and intellect of Bacolod’s young women, but also their dedication to social causes and community leadership.”
The pageant serves as a platform for the candidates to advocate for meaningful changes and promote the vibrant culture of Bacolod, the BYF added. | CGC
