Mayor Alfredo Benitez yesterday said that Bacolod City will be the first local government unit in the country to turn over 288 housing units to informal settler-beneficiaries under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) flagship program of the Marcos administration.

Benitez also confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will lead the turnover of the first batch of Yuhum housing units at Arao Residences in Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod on Dec. 20, which is also the mayor’s birthday.

He said that aside from the units that are affordable and the socialized housing approach, what highlights the Yuhum housing project are the facilities and amenities that come with the structure, including wide open spaces, swimming pool, a clubhouse, multi-purpose hall, a basketball court, and a playground, among others.

Benitez said he also proposed that the first green lane route in Bacolod be established in the area. “We will dedicate this new route for electric public transportation.”

He said he will ask the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass a corresponding legislation in establishing the new route.

Aside from the Arao Residences, Benitez said he also already signed the tripartite memoranda of agreement with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Home Development Mutual Fund, for the Yuhum Residences-Banago and Yuhum Residences-Estefania.

He said the Banago project will have 3,120 residential and 260 commercial units.

“This project is a multi-level condominium with 13 buildings of seven storeys consisting of 40 residential units per floor, from second up, and 20 commercial units at the ground floor. The total number of condominium units to be delivered pursuant to this agreement shall be 3,380 units,” the Banago project brief showed.

Yuhum Residences-Estefania is also a multilevel condominium with 10 buildings of seven storeys, consisting of 24 residential units per floor, from the second up, and 10 commercial units at the ground Noor. Total combined number of residential and commercial units shall be 1,540. | CGC
