All business establishments in Bacolod City are being urged to periodically submit their list of job vacancies to the Bacolod City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) as part of the strategy to curb unemployment and boost the job placement information systems of the city.
Councilor Em Ang stressed that Bacolodnons should be aware of ongoing job vacancies as she noted that, as per the May 2023 Labor Force Survey result released by the Philippine Statistics Authority early this month, 17,325, or 4.5 percent of the total labor force of Bacolod are unemployed.
The Bacolod PESO, created and institutionalized under City Ordinance 957, passed on Sept. 15, 2021, is a venue where people could explore simultaneously various employment options and actually seek assistance as they prefer, so business establishments should submit their list of vacancies to this office, Ang said in her resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod July 19.
The Bacolod PESO has been posting job offerings on its Facebook page at PesoBacolodLGU, and announced another summer job fair, set on July 24 and 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SM City Bacolod main atrium.
Over 12,000 local and overseas job offerings are up for grabs, the PESO said as it encourages jobseekers to bring updated resumes, black ballpen, school credentials, work-related documents if available, and passport, if available.
Come in proper dress code, with a job-ready personality and 100 percent confidence level, the PESO added.
Since July last year, the Bacolod PESO already conducted 15 job fairs, with 57,300 job offerings./CGC
