An estimated P2.4 million worth of suspected shabu was seized by the police from eight arrested suspects in separate buy-bust operations in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, on June 2 and 3.
The joint buy-bust operation of the City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 5 at Rosario Heights Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, led to the arrest of three drug suspects identified Jason Javelosa, John Vergel Orquia, and John Matthew Toleo.
P/Col. Joseph Thomas Martir, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that the apprehension of the three drug suspects yielded about 300 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P2.1 million, its paraphernalia, P1,000 in marked money, and P600 in cash.
Policemen also nabbed three other drug suspects in another buy-bust operation June 2 in Brgy. Progreso, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Apprehended during a joint operation of the Binalbagan police and PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operation Unit 6 were Jesusa Palma, Riche Delos Santos, and Frence Jan Cervantes, all residents of Brgy. Bantayan, Kabankalan City.
P/Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, regional police spokesman, reported that the arrest of the suspects in Binalbagan yielded about three kilos of dried marijuana leaves, with a market value of P360,000, marked money of P1,000, and a cellular phone.
Policemen also arrested Thursday Clintprex Soldevilla and Terrence de los Reyes, while attempting to flee from a checkpoint at the national highway of Brgy. Paglaum in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
The Binalbagan police recovered three sachets of suspected shabu, with a market value of P3,400, from Soldevilla.
