Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office arrested an Indian national in Barangay Taculing early this evening, July 8, for being an undesirable alien.

BCPO director, Colonel Noel Aliño, identified the foreigner as Joginder Geong, with aliases Joginder Geyong and Kant Gupta, 40, single, and temporarily residing at Santa Lucia Garden Subdivision in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod.

His arrest was for violation of the Philippine Immigration Law, or Commonwealth Act No. 613, for being an undesirable alien, Aliño said in a Viber message to reporters.

A July 5 memorandum from the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) states that the foreigner is “a notorious criminal with a history of serious offenses, such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and robbery.”

The Bureau said it received an official communication from the Embassy of India in Manila June 22 this year, requesting for the arrest and deportation of the Indian national.

“He leads an organized crime syndicate, and has been sentenced to life imprisonment for violating the arms laws in India. Geong is hiding in the Philippines using the fake name Kant Gupta with a fraudulent Nepalese passport,” Aliño said.

The foreign fugitive is now under the custody of the FSU for proper disposition, prior to his possible deportation, the Bacolod police chief said, adding that personnel of the BCPO Police Station 6, led by Captain Dax Santillan, with support from other units, and the FSU, conducted the operation. ||
