Handumanan punong barangay Ma. Febe Legaspi is calling for transparent and equitable water distribution from the Bacolod City Water District-PrimeWater.

Legaspi, in her letter to PrimeWater branch manager Farah Jenny Monteclaro, copy furnished the Sangguniang Panlungsod April 2, noted a “serious water crisis in our community brought on by PrimeWater-Baciwa’s egregiously inefficient and unfair service”.

She added that many puroks have been without a drop of water for weeks, despite the promise of enhanced services when PrimeWater took over the water distribution system, in collaboration with Baciwa.

“We insist that Barangay Handumanan receive a sufficient and equitable distribution of water as a primary concern, (and to) make available to the public a report detailing the amount of water taken from Handumanan and the distribution of that water,” Legaspi said in her letter, which the SP decided to endorse to Baciwa-PrimeWater for appropriate action.

“The fact that Barangay Handumanan is the actual source of the water you take and distribute to other barangays only serves to heighten this ire. Since the beginning of your business, your organization has been stealing water from Handumanan without giving the barangay any kind of royalty or payment…our community has been left struggling as a result of this obvious unfairness,” she stressed. | CGC
