La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio is the new president of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Negros Occidental chapter.
Asistio got 270 votes and prevailed over Binalbagan Councilor Jerry Yulo, who garnered 28 votes.
Also elected as vice president is Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa.
Escalante City Councilor Virgie Pastor was elected secretary general after getting 195 votes against the 92 of Hinobaan Councilor Jodybone Octavio.

Unopposed were Toboso Councilor Richard Jaojoco for treasurer, Himamaylan City Councilor Janet Villafranca, auditor, Talisay City Councilor Rolin Robert Meliton, business manager, and Victorias City Councilor Audie Malaga, public relations officer.
Elected as members of the Board of Directors are Bobby Barrido Sr., Rey Cordero, Mikaela Escalante, Aurelio Garita II, Victor Michael Javellana, Philip Gerald Maisog, and Jason Tupas.
Asistio will sit as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental, replacing Gamboa, who agreed earlier to the suggestion of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson to slide down to vice president.
Asistio was the Love Negros and United Negros Alliance common candidate for PCL-Negros Occidental chapter president. He was supported by his parents, 4th District Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer and Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer.
The election, which was held today, Aug. 22, at L’Fisher in Bacolod City, was attended by all the councilors of Negros Occidental./GB
