An arrested member of the New People’s Army, who is facing murder and multiple frustrated murder charges, was linked to the ambush-slay of two Army soldiers and injuries of eight others on May 12, 2018 in Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion said.
Susan Medes, 59, who is said to be the chairperson of the Baclayan, Bito, Cabagal Farmers and Farmworkers Association (BABICAFA) and a resident of Sitio Bito, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, was apprehended June 25 at Repollo Street in Brgy. 2 Poblacion, Kabankalan City, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the court.
Medes, being alleged as a member of the NPA Central Negros 2, under the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor, as reported by the 94IB, was denied bail by the court, said police regional spokesperson, P/Maj. Grace Soccoro Borio./GB
