A soldier of the Philippine Army was apprehended by the police by virtue of an arrest warrant for homicide at the headquarters of 15th Infantry Battalion (IB) in Barangay Tiling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

SSgt. Charlemagne Nabejet, a member of the 15IB, was charged for the death of his colleague, Cpl. Arnold Sumaribus, a resident of Iloilo City.

The shooting incident took place inside a military outpost in Sitio Barasbarasan, Barangay Manlucahoc, Sipalay City on Nov. 25 last year, where the two soldiers reportedly figured in a spat during a birthday celebration of a fellow trooper.

The Regional Trial Court in Sipalay City has recommended a bail of P120,000 for the provisional liberty of  Nabejet, of Lanao del Norte, who is under the custody of the Sipalay City Police Station.

Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade, earlier said that Nabejet also faces administrative sanction that may lead to his dismissal from the military service. | GB
