Colonel Mike Samson, officer-in-charge of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, has placed all infantry units in full alert status as the Community Party of the Philippines marks its 52nd founding anniversary on Saturday (Dec. 26).

Samson said that the CPP founding anniversary is usually marked by NPA violent activities.

No ceasefire order was given by the government and the CPP-NPA to their units this yuletide season.

Meanwhile, the CPP-NPA has denounced what it claims as military abuses against civilians, as the group blames the government forces for the killing of Guihulngan Inter Agency Task Force chief, Dr. Mary Rose Sancelan, and her husband, Edwin.

Earlier, the city government of Guihulngan in Negros Oriental offered a bounty of P500,000 for any information that can lead to the identification and arrest of those behind the killing of the Sancelan couple.

Guihulngan City Administrator Karen Lisette Molas said that the bounty also applies to other unsolved killings in Guihulngan City since 2017. — GB
