Residents of a rebel-influenced barangay in Hinobaan town received help from the municipal government and the 15th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army in line with “Serbisyo Caravan”, a government service program.

Maj. Cenon Pancito, 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson, said the “Serbisyong Negrosanon para sa Hinoban-on”, is part of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) of the national government to end local communist armed conflict.

The program has benefitted hundreds of residents, especially from sitios Bugtong Kahoy and Payab-on Dash 5, all in Barangay Asia, Hinobaan.

Barangay Asia has been identified by the 15IB as rebel-influenced in southern Negros.

The RCSP aims to address the community’s concerns by closing governance, security, and development gaps, providing the needs of the community, ensuring sustained development, and promoting peace, Pancito said.

Lt. Col. Erwin Cariño, 15th IB commander, lauded the cooperation and support of the Hinobaan officials, led by Mayor Ernesto Estrao, in the success of Serbisyo Caravan.

“Let’s continue to work hand in hand and implement this approach because your support and our collaboration is a critical component in ending this insurgency,” Cariño said.– GPB
