The Philippine Army has identified Roger Fabillar alias “Arnel Tapang”, an elusive leader of communist rebel remnants in northern Negros, as the assailant in the killing of a farmer in Victorias City, Negros Occidental over a land dispute.

Fabillar shot Jonhee Montoya at the covered court of Barangay Gawahon on April 2 last year, based on the closed circuit television footages acquired by the authorities.

Montoya was seen kneeling when he was shot by the suspect.

In a statement, the New People’s Army Roselyn Jean Pelle Command claimed responsibility for the death of Montoya.

Fabillar, who was linked to numerous killings in the hinterlands of Calatrava and Toboso, has a bounty of P1 million for his arrest. | GB
