Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido has lauded the 303rd Infantry Brigade and its infantry units for their relentless campaign against the New People’s Army (NPA) to bring peace and security in Negros Island.
This week, soldiers of the 62nd and 94th Infantry Battalions engaged in two encounters in Binalbagan and Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental, resulting in the recovery of three high- powered firearms from the slain and injured rebels.
Galido, who visited the 303rd Infantry Brigade headquarters on Dec. 7 in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town, also provided guidance on military discipline.
He emphasized the importance of the troops’ commitment and the need to equip them with knowledge and skills for the service.
The Philippine Army said it has already weakened the NPA’s Central Negros 1 and 2 and South West guerilla fronts in Negros Island, citing the neutralization of their members, who were either killed, surrendered or captured in the past several months. | GB
