A member of the dismantled New People’s Army (NPA) Central Negros 2 under the Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros gave himself up to authorities in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental on Sept. 19.
His surrender, wherein he also yielded a Colt M1911 caliber .45 pistol with ammunition, was facilitated by the 4th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Negros Island Region.
The former rebel joined the NPA in 2021 and decided to return to civilian life after recognizing the opportunity to access government reintegration assistance.
The surrendered individual is currently under the custody of the police unit for custodial debriefing and proper disposition.
He will also undergo processing for possible availment of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program. | GPB
