A sub-village chairwoman was shot to death by five unidentified men at Sitio Mana-uban in Barangay Lina-on, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Tuesday night (Oct. 14).
Initial police investigation showed the assailants, carrying high-powered firearms, went to the house of the 34-year-old victim.
Then in front of her family members, they fired at her without any reason at all, the police said.
Investigators recovered from the scene of the incident two deformed bullets of 7.62mm and two empty shells believed to be that of M16 and M14 rifles.
The victim, who succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries, was declared dead on arrival at the Cauayan District Hospital.
Police probers are validating reports that the suspects are remnants of the dismantled New People’s Army South West Front. | GB
