The week-long anti-illegal drug operations of the police in Western Visayas led to the arrest of 56 drug personalities and the confiscation of about P10 million worth of illegal drugs.
In a statement, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said the seizure of 1.4 kilograms of suspected shabu and two grams of dried marijuana leaves from Feb. 15 to 21 was a product of 47 police operations all over the region.
Of the 56 arrested drug peddlers, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office accounted for 20 suspects, which is equivalent to 35.7 percent of the total arrests.
The Bacolod City Police Officer under the leadership of PCol. Joeresty Coronica confiscated P2.6 million worth of suspected shabu.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, attributed the accomplishments to the support from the community, the other law enforcement agencies and the local government units.
“We are more motivated to serve the public as our coordination and collaboration tightened,” Wanky said in a statement. | GB
