Four armed men shot dead a civilian Friday in Sitio Huebesan, Brgy. Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, five days after the killing of a livestock buyer in the same place, a military official said.

Lt. Col. J-Jay Javines, 79th Infantry Battalion commander, identified the victim, based on the investigation of the Calatrava police, as Renato Estrebello, 43, a resident of the place.

The suspects, who were wearing black pants and sweat shirts, introduced themselves as military men and reportedly brought the victim outside his house and shot him.

Javines said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be established by the Calatrava police.

Javines said the suspects wanted to discredit the Philippine Army by claiming to be military members.

On Aug. 7, five suspected NPA members also waylaid and shot Rodel Nobleza, a livestock buyer, in Sitio Kamao, Brgy. Marcelo, Calatrava.

Nobleza, alias Peter, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and also died on the spot, the police said./GB
