ANCOP global walk held

The Couples for Christ Philippines (CFC) San Carlos joined the annual ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) Global Walk (AGW) early yesterday morning, Sept. 28, on the theme “Sponsor a Child’s Education Today”.

The activity started in front of the City Hall and ended at City Auditorium, participated in by its members from the CFC North B sectors, including San Carlos City, municipalities of Calatrava and Toboso, and scholars, various community groups, and partners under the Diocese of San Carlos.

CFC-North B Sector head Laurito Dela Rita said the activity was conducted simultaneously across the Negros Island Region and aimed at raising funds for poor but deserving students, who cannot afford to go to school, and to continue supporting existing scholars.

He also shared that Negros has 38 ANCOP scholars, while across the country, the program has already helped over 400 students pursuing their education.

One of the beneficiaries, Sylrizcin Marie Manzo, shared her personal journey during the event. She said the program was a great help in her studies and family, allowing her to finish school.

She said in a city press release that more than the financial support, ANCOP also guided her spiritual growth as an active member of CFC. Manzo encouraged fellow scholars to value the opportunity given to them, to continue studying diligently, and to never give up on their dreams.

Former Negros Occidental 1st District Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr., who joined the walk, expressed his happiness at being part of the event, saying it was inspiring to see the scholars striving and succeeding in their studies.

He also commended the organization and encouraged them to continue their good work in helping the poor. ||
